Welcome to the E J Richards Library

The E.J. Richards Library, Faculty of Engineering & the Environment (FEE), located in Building 13 Room 4069 is open Monday- Friday 9-5pm. It contributes a specialist supplement to the broader services provided by the main university library and also provides a comfortable, quiet study area for FEE staff and students.

External borrowers and other Southampton University staff and students are welcome to use the facility by appointment.

Support is available from a member of staff in the library on Thursdays. Additionally enquiries can be answered by contacting libenqs@soton.ac.uk (Mon-Fri 9-5)

The Library Guide contains further information about the collection and how to access the material held and the Library Catalogue can be used to search for books, periodicals or theses. Note - currently the serch only works in Internet Explorer. The holdings of the E J Richards Library are not included in WebCat or TDNet or Delphis.

Projects and Dissertations

Print copies of projects and dissertations produced by past students within the Faculty of Engineering & Environment are available for loan from the E J Richards Library (Tizard Building Rm 4069)

The material is held in locked cupboards - to access it please contact the librarian via libenqs@soton.ac.uk 

You can search the E J Richards Library Catalogue for MSc's & PhD's. A printed list of undergraduate projects is also available for reference in the library.

Many recent (since 2008)  PhD theses can be downloaded as pdf's from e-prints soton

  • Undergraduate Projects (last 10 years): Aeronautics & Astronautics, Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Ship Science and ISVR 
  • Group Projects: Aeronautics & Astronautics, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ship Science
  • MSc dissertations
