If the item you require is on loan or at another site, you can put in a request (place a hold) for it by logging in to WebCat.

Find the item on WebCat, login with your university username and password and select the Place Hold option.

For an item on loan a recall notice will be sent for it to be returned within seven days from the date it was recalled.
Once the item is returned, you will receive an email notification.

Holds are kept for you to collect within three days after this non-collected holds are canceled.

You cannot renew items with "holds" that are required by other readers

What has changed?

You can now collect holds from the Library & Learning Commons Help & Information desk.  New self-issue and return units give you the option to issue and return books outside of the staffed hours.

Loan periods

The table below outlines the different loan types and the penalties for overdue items.  These measures are to encourage everyone to return items on loan before they become overdue.

If you do not return books and they become overdue, you will not be able to borrow anything or place holds until those items are returned or renewed.

Different items have different penalties once overdue; this is dependent upon the length of the loan and if the item is in demand.
