The Artists’ Book collection includes over 1,500 items dating from the 1960s to the present day. The Knitting Reference Library includes books, journals, magazines, knitting patterns and a small handling collection. The published works date from the Victorian period to the present day.
The University of Southampton’s online library catalogue WebCat holds information on all of the books, journals & magazines held in these collections. It can be accessed at: www.soton.ac.uk/library/catalogues
The Artists' Books Collection concentrates on books made either by hand or in limited editions, and was started in 1966. It now includes over 1000 items and is a collection of national standing. It also includes books created or designed by University staff, and we have acquired a range of books from the final year degree shows at WSA.
The Knitting Reference Library (KRL) includes the published works collected by Montse Stanley, Richard Rutt and Jane Waller. These comprise books, exhibition catalogues, knitting patterns, journals and magazines. More information can be found on our dedicated website.
Visionaire is the highly collectible, multi format, luxury art and fashion publication, produced four times a year. With their deeply developed network of artists, photographers, fashion designers, models, celebrities, filmmakers, writers, agents, editors, collectors, galleries, and museums, each issue is designed, themed and created uniquely and produced in a limited edition, with no advertising. Formats and styles vary enormously, so the collection offers rich inspiration in ideas, style and presentation.
WSA Library hold all Visionaires published since 1994.
"Fashions rise and fashions set, but Visionaire continues to shine with its unperturbed new visions, influenced by nobody, influencing them all."
- Karl Lagerfeld
