About

The Royal Society is a Fellowship of many of the world's most eminent scientists and is the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence.

The Royal Society journals Philosophical Transactions A and Philosophical Transactions B publish theme issues across the sciences, all of which are guest edited by leading researchers in their respective fields. Each issue provides an original and authoritative synthesis, highlighting the latest research, ideas and opinions, creating a foundation for future research

Transactions

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences

Philosophical Transactions A publishes high quality theme issues on topics of current importance and general interest within the physical, mathematical and engineering sciences, guest-edited by leading authorities and comprising new research, reviews and opinions from prominent researchers. Each issue aims to create an original and authoritative synthesis, often bridging traditional disciplines, which showcases current developments and provides a foundation for future research, applications and policy decisions.

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences

Philosophical Transactions B publishes high quality theme issues on topics of current importance and general interest within the life sciences, guest-edited by leading authorities and comprising new research, reviews and opinions from prominent researchers. Each issue aims to create an original and authoritative synthesis, often bridging traditional disciplines, which showcases current developments and provides a foundation for future research, applications and policy decisions.

Proceedings

Proceedings of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences

Proceedings of the Royal Society A publishes articles across the chemical, computational, Earth, engineering, mathematical, and physical sciences. The articles published are high-quality, original, fundamental articles of interest to a wide range of scientists, and often have long citation half-lives. As well as established disciplines, we encourage emerging and interdisciplinary areas.

Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences

Proceedings of the Royal Society B is the Royal Society’s flagship biological research journal, accepting original articles and reviews of outstanding scientific importance and broad general interest. The main criteria for acceptance are that a study is novel, and has general significance to biologists. Articles published cover the breadth of the biological sciences; many but not all articles have direct relevance to organisms and the environments in which they live.
