We need to replace the guttering along the front of the Hartley Library to stop water seeping into the building when it rains. Scaffolding will be going up over the next three weeks and work will begin in mid-March. We may need to close one set of entrance doors at some points during the work but you will still be able to get into the building at all times.
The contractors are aware of the need to keep disruption to a minimum but it's inevitable that there will be some noise between 8am and 4.30 on weekdays while the work is underway. We're very sorry about this. The work is essential to protect the building and we needed to get it underway as quickly as possible. You may wish to study towards the back of the building if the noise disturbs you too much. Do remember that there are alternative study spaces available in Building 100 and at the Sir James Matthews building in Guildhall Square in the city. Both buildings are open 8am to 8pm and you can find them using Mazemap in the My Southampton app
