Hartley Library

University of Southampton staff and students can book a study desk in the Hartley Library. Note that bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance. You will need your University card to access the library. The information you supply in this form will also be used to support the University test and trace programme and will be used in accordance with the University privacy policy.

All study desks must be prebooked. Please note that study desks on Levels 1 and 2 can only be booked for 1 hour per person. The study desks in the Assistive Technology Suite and Level 4 can be booked for up to 2 hours per person. The study desks on Level 5 can be booked for up to 3 hours per person. If you are nearing the end of your booked time slot you can stay for longer if there are available spaces. Please make an additional booking so that we can monitor capacity.

You can also book a Browse & Borrow timeslot to browse the shelves and use the self-issue machine to add the books to your library account. Please note that face coverings are required when you are moving around the library.

Please note that from 5th November 2020 face coverings must be worn at all times in the libraries.

The maps below show the desk zones available in the library. Please ensure you sit at a desk in the zone you have booked. Select a zone in the booking form, then select a date and a time. Lastly, enter your details and click book to complete your booking. You will be sent an email confirmation. Please bring your booking confirmation with you on the day.

Health Services Library

University of Southampton staff and students, and NHS Trust staff can book a study desk in the Health Services Library. Note that bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance. You will need your University card or Trust ID to access the library. The information you supply in this form will also be used to support the University test and trace programme and will be used in accordance with the University privacy policy.

All study desks must be prebooked to ensure fair use while we have reduced study space capacity with COVID-19 safety measures in place. You can book multiple one hour slots per day. If you are nearing the end of your booked time slot you can stay for longer if there are available spaces. Please make an additional booking so that we can monitor capacity.  

You can also book a Browse & Borrow timeslot to browse the shelves and use the self-issue machine to add the books to your library account.

All study desks must be prebooked. Please note that study desks in Library 1 can be booked for 1 hour per person per day. The study desks in Library 2 can now be booked for up to 2 hours per person per day. If you are nearing the end of your booked time slot you can stay for longer if there are available spaces.
