As mental health becomes an increasing global concern, this exhibition explores how spiritual dimensions offer an alternative, transcendent understanding of wellbeing. Spiritual wellbeing is a journey in which one’s wounds, pain, or trauma are held – and becoming healed – within the universal spheres present in imagination, urban nature and built environments. Encountering such spheres – often through meditation – is essential for the cathartic release of past and present trauma to foster a harmonious life that transcends notions of good and bad, loss and gain, birth and death.
The exhibition showcases 18 drawings of urban meditation, created by anonymous individuals living with mental health conditions in Taiwan. Each work captures moments of encounter as the artists tune into their spiritual beings that meet with the universal present through sound, imagination and bodily movement.
