What is Data Management?

Data management is about good research practice, it is an essential building block for good research.  It should be part of your everyday processes.

Basic principles, such as file naming and version control, will help you locate and understand your data.

Data management will help you collate data that underpins your work in a way that allows it to be used with confidence, both now and in the future.

Ultimately, well managed data can add to the credit you receive and impact of your research alongside other research outputs.

To find data produced by researchers at the University of Southampton, please see our institutional data catalogue.
