Medicine: BMJ Best Practice

This guide is designed for everyone - from new students to research staff - in the Faculty of Medicine, and anyone else who needs to use medical information resources.

What Is It?

BMJ Best Practice is a "point of care information tool" - giving you access to curated, evidence-based information wherever and whenever you need it. It is Up-to-Date in its purpose, with both a web and mobile app version.

How Do I Access It?

BMJ BEST Practice: Funded by Health Education England, free to all NHS staff and learners.

Access to the web version will require your NHS OpenAthens login.

Access BMJ Best Practice by visiting your OpenAthens account.

  • Log in via the "Access through your institution" button
  • Select "University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust"
  • Log in with your OpenAthens account

Once logged in, you can create a personal account - this will allow you to log into the mobile app (downloadable from your app store).
