Access to Datastream

iSolutions are able to provide remote access to Datastream.

To request this access or if you have questions about this access, please contact iSolutions.

Further details which iSolutions have provided about this access to Datastream:

Instructions for Datastream on Windows:

We can now provide off-campus access to our Datastream machines. Four people can use Datastream at a time.

Getting your computer ready for Datastream

Please contact ISolutions to ask for access to Datastream. It may take a few days for them to give you access.

Once iSolutions have given you access, you need both the Virtual Private Network and Southampton Virtual Environment to use Datastream.

These are the instructions to install the Virtual Private Network (VPN), which is called Global Protect. https://software.soton.ac.uk/software/121

These are the instructions to install the Southampton Virtual Environment (called VMWare): https://software.soton.ac.uk/release/456

Using Datastream

Connect to Global Protect and VMWare

Datastream automatically starts when you log in.

Once you've opened VMWare, you will see a Datastream option. You may see a warning message. Please select OK to continue.  If one of the 4 Datastream machines is currently available, it will log you in.

We suggest you start Excel>Add-ins>Datastream and access the data you require

As only four people can use Datastream at a time, please log off as soon as you have found the information you need.
