New Resources on the A-Z

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic many publishers and suppliers are making content temporarily freely available. This page lists these offers, in addition to new content available either through our subscriptions, or permanently open access. All of our subscription and open access resources can be found in the A-Z list, on subject pages and via our catalogues.

Availability now will not guarantee availability in the future. The access expiry date can be found beside each resource and we do not recommend academics embed these resources into learning objects. If you feel that one of these resources would be valuable to add to a reading list or for research, please email and we will make best efforts to licence the item for long-term access.

Key Databases

Key Subject Resources

These are the key databases we recommend that you use, a more complete list is available from the Database page.  All electronic resources can be accessed off-campus through the Southampton Virtual Environment (SVE).

ChemSpider, Reaxys, and SciFinder-n are databases that search for literature, structures, reactions and properties.

Compendex, IEEE Xplore and Web of Science provide full-text articles and more.

National Chemical Database Service is now called the UK Physical Sciences Data-science Service (PSDS), which provides many databases to search.
