Adding the bookmarking extension

The bookmarking extension is a tool which enables you to add resources to your reading list. E-books and articles from our catalogue (Library Search) and a host of other resources (websites, articles, videos, documents etc) from the open web. It captures all the relevant bibliographic data in a secure and easy way to add resources to your list.

The extension will be placed as an icon in your browser tool bar.

To add the bookmarking extension, follow these online instructions.

Creating your Reading List

You can follow the written guide below. Alternatively, there is a 4 minute video guide.

Before you create your own reading list, you will need to check whether there is already an existing list for this module on our system. You can check this by typing the module code or title into the search box on the Reading List homepage.

Where a list exists, it will be displayed as LIST (see screenshot below)

Once the list is found, select and then add to +MyLists.

If only a MODULE is found, or No results found is displayed, you can create a new list by clicking on the My Lists tab in the toolbar and then clicking on the Create new list button.

First, click on the Select Hierarchy option. Adding your list to the hierarchy establishes the connection to your Blackboard module content.

Type in the module code until the correct module is displayed.

Copy the displayed text. This will be used for the list title in the next step.

Check the correct number of students is displayed and Save.

Now paste the copied module code and name into the Title field.

Choose the current Academic Year and select Save.

Finally, assign the list to yourself, or someone else under the EDIT button. It's possible to add multiple list owners.

You are now ready to add resources to your Reading list.
