Through our partnership with Boydell and Brewer we will offer two University of Southampton early career researchers, the opportunity to publish their first monograph/book, Open Access, under the Boydell Horizons programme.
Boydell and Brewer are an independent publisher with over 50 years’ experience of scholarly publishing specialising in the humanities and social sciences.
Through the Boydell Horizons open access book publishing programme the successful applicants will participate in online workshops and webinars led by the Boydell and Brewer editors which will equip them with the skills to progress their work ready for publication. The finished titles will be published open access online and will also be available as a paperback for purchase.
This publishing opportunity was open to colleagues if they met the following criteria:
• They are an early career researcher (10-years post-PhD excluding career breaks).
• Their area of work is substantively humanities or social sciences aligned (interdisciplinary Works will be considered).
• They have a monograph/book in mind which is reporting on their research in this field.
• This is their first single authored monograph/book.
• They can commit to 4 - 5 expert-led online workshops starting in February 2026 and one each month following.
• They can commit to developing their idea to a completed book with the assistance of this programme.
The 90-minute workshops are provisionally planned to be run in 2026 on 11th February, 11th March, 22nd April, 13th May and 10th June 2026 at 10 am on each day.
